That magical month. It is one of the three months student teaching doesn't adequately prepare you for (the others being April and May). The end of the semester and almost two whole weeks away from school is in plain view for our kiddos. Between the candy, the music, the lights, and the gifts, their focus is definitely not on school.
I often get asked what it is like at school in December. I feel this image best explains it:
There is an excitement for both students and teachers that is hard to contain. There is an anxiety for both students and teachers that is hard to contain. What it the most magical time of the year often becomes one of the most stressful times of the year. It is ok to feel these things. We all do.
But remember there is a lot we can do for our kiddos these last four days. Approach each day with a good attitude and a positive outlook.
