White Christmas?
It's a Wonderful Life?
A Christmas Story?
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation?
Elf?
Die Hard? (Is it a Christmas movie? It happens at Christmas...does that count?)
One of my favorites, Love Actually?
We could probably relate to a lot these movies right now.
Our room probably looks like the Nakatomi Building after John McClane was there.
Our students behave a little like Buddy Elf. Everything is so exciting and new this time of year.
We find ourselves feeling a little nicer and kinder this holiday season and we are not afraid to express it like in Love Actually.
While we wish our Christmas plays out like White Christmas or It's a Wonderful Life, it always tends to lean a little more like the realistic A Christmas Story or National Lampoon's.
While our expectations for the holiday season may not always pan out, isn't there still good in it? Same thing in your classrooms...not every lesson may pan out or equal success. Uninvited guest or uninvited hiccups may arrive and cause discomfort...or maybe a few laughs. You may feel like it is you against an army...and you are trying to saving a room (or building) full of people. Yet...there are still those lessons where it all comes together and your students pull off a great ending scene spectacular.
At the end of all these movies, everyone realizes the importance of being together and the value of each person. Isn't that why we watch them year after after? We like that mushy stuff...and the funny stuff...and all that stuff in between. Isn't that what we want each day in our classrooms?
Have a great break!
